Veteran/Military Students

Chatham recognizes our current and former military members and their families for their service and sacrifice to our country. We value the importance of that experience and its positive impact in the classroom and in our community. We understand that active duty, reserve, guard and veteran students have unique needs and know you might have questions that are different from others applying to Chatham.

We encourage applicants with military and ROTC experience to share that experience as part of your application. The Office of Admission welcomes your experience and reviews each application in its entirety to understand how each student can contribute and benefit within the Chatham community.

Active Duty Military/ Veteran applicants please submit the following: 

• Official high school transcript, GED or TASC.  (Please note, if you have completed an Associate Degree, you do not need to submit a high school transcript.) 
• Official college or university transcripts for every college or university you have attended. Do not send photocopies. 
• Official military transcripts such as the Community College of the Air Force, Joint Services Transcript, or from any specialty military school that provides transcripts. 
• A copy of your DD214 (member copy 4) or NGB-22. If you are currently serving, please provide the most recent copy of your orders or enlistment contract. 
• If applicable, CLEP and DSST credits will be accepted based on ACE Recommendations. 

Chatham University Undergraduate Admission is Test Optional 

• No SAT or ACT test scores are necessary to receive full admission review.  
• All special programs will waive test score requirements this year; this includes honors, integrated degree programs (IDPs) and all premier scholarship programs.

Undergraduate admissions at Chatham Univeristy has a rolling deadline, we will accept your application to study with us at any time of the year. However, there are important deadlines for class registration and housing.

Class Registration  

All students will work with the Office of Academic Affairs to make their schedules. Registration days begin in March for fall terms and November for spring term starts. Students must be accepted and deposited to register for classes.  Registration occurs on a first-come first-serve basis; the earlier you are able to deposit, the sooner you will be able to meet with faculty or our Transfer Coordinator to choose your classes and register for the upcoming term.

Housing 

While many of our current military veterans opt to commute to campus, housing is available on campus. To have priority housing at Chatham University for the fall term, students must deposit by May 1.  Once deposited, students will receive a housing questionnaire that will help assign them a residence hall or one of our on-campus apartments.

Students planning to commute should submit their deposit as early as possible for priority class registration.

Note: We encourage you to submit all application materials by August 1 to allow for CLEP and DSST results to be processed and reviewed prior to enrollment.

This application is for students applying to Chatham's Bachelor-level undergraduate programs and integrated degree programs. The links in this section will redirect you to The Common Application or the Chatham Undergraduate Application.

The Common Application will allow you to apply to multiple schools at once while the Chatham Application is specific to our school and our requirements for admission.

Chatham University participates in all veterans’ education programs and is a Yellow Ribbon school. There is no limit on the number of students eligible to receive the Yellow Ribbon benefit at Chatham University. 

Most 100% Yellow Ribbon-eligible veterans are able to complete their education at Chatham without any out-of-pocket costs for tuition or fees. If you do not have enough remaining eligibility to complete your degree, Chatham has financial aid available to help you.

Students admitted to Chatham University are awarded merit-based scholarships. In addition, Need-based financial aid is available by completing and submitting the FAFSA (Chatham FAFSA Code 003244). Financial Aid can also assist with applying for loans, payment options and many other topics.
